The Dolores Scream
Dolores, Hidalgo.
September 16th, 1810.
The independence fight was starting with the Dolores scream. The Dolores Scream urged was a calling by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, to rebel against the viceregal authority of New Spain.
He called the entire population of Dolores through by striking a bell during the morning of September 16th, 1810 (Mexican Independence Day). Hidalgo was waiting in the church with a banner of the virgin of Guadalupe, there he pronounced a patriotic speech that finished with the next words: ¡Viva la virgen de Guadalupe! ¡Viva Ámerica España! ¡Viva Fernando VII! ¡Viva México! ¡Viva México! ¡Viva México!.
The Dolores scream was the beggining of the figth of independence, that continued until September 27th, 1821.
